Jacobs (now Amentum) first approached IS Instruments in 2017 when it was recognised that great advances were being made in the field of laser sensing and, in particular, Raman spectroscopy. Through Jacobs’s extensive knowledge of the various challenges within the nuclear industry, along with IS Instruments’ expertise in laser-based sensing technologies, they identified several applications for Raman spectroscopy to make nuclear decommissioning safer, faster and cheaper. Over the subsequent years, the partnership between Jacobs and IS Instruments has led to developing advanced Raman spectroscopic technologies for both UK and international clients. The success of these projects has been a direct result of the knowledge, proficiency and professionalism of the staff at IS Instruments. It is a testament to the open and collaborative nature of the way they work.
